ARTIST STATEMENT

Who am I? How would I describe my artistic journey?

I am Calise Kerr. My art is how I express myself. It’s how I show the world what I am feeling when I don’t know how to express it in words. My life is consumed in art, no matter if it is sculpture, or on a piece of paper, I aspire to show how I use the fluid movement of my hands and an artistic material to express a thought or preference. I've fallen in love with, into one focus. I attended a public “art” school from sixth grade to twelfth grade. I love to be enlightened  on specific types of art. So, what kind of art do I want to create? My future goal is to share my art with the world through an multi-media art gallery and shop. My art has gotten me through so many challenges in life, and I want to help others experience that, too. I would also like to give other artists the opportunity to share their art and receive compensation for it so I would like to be the creative director of my own freelance agency as well. I major in Illustration with a concentration in surface design and minor in business management and entrepreneurship at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta Georgia. This will help me gain the practical skills that will help me achieve these goals. I am now working towards perfecting my personal art style through digital and traditional mediums.
